What a VPP actually does
It pays for capacity you were not using
Your battery is sized for your worst evenings, which means on an ordinary day a good portion of it sits idle. A VPP puts that spare capacity to work and pays you for it, without changing how the battery serves your own home first.
That income can cancel out your supply charge
Solar and storage cut the energy you buy, but the daily supply charge is fixed and lands whether you use a kilowatt or not. It is the one part of the bill you cannot generate your way out of. VPP income is the mechanism that can offset it.
You keep your electricity retailer
Joining does not mean switching providers or signing up to a plan you did not choose. You stay with whoever you are with, and keep the freedom to change later.
Every battery we install is VPP compatible
We do not sell storage that cannot participate. Both the Sigenergy SigenStor and the Hinen B14400 are VPP ready out of the box, so whichever suits your home the option is there, whether you take it up now, later, or never.
Your warranty is unaffected
Participation is within the operating limits the manufacturer warrants. Taking part does not put your cover at risk.
It is optional, and reversible
You do not have to join, and you are not locked in if you do. We will walk you through the terms before you decide rather than after.

Will it leave me without power?
No. Your own home is served first, always. A VPP only ever draws on capacity beyond what your household needs.
Do I have to change electricity retailers?
No. That is deliberate on our part. Some VPP programs tie you to one provider; we would rather you kept the freedom to shop around.
Does it cost anything to join?
No upfront cost. You are credited for taking part.
Will it wear my battery out faster?
Cycling contributes to degradation, which is why warranties are written around throughput. Participation stays inside those limits and does not affect your cover, whether that is the twelve years on a Hinen or the ten on a Sigenergy.
Which batteries can join a VPP?
Both of the batteries we install. The Sigenergy SigenStor and the Hinen B14400 are VPP ready out of the box, and VPP capability is also a condition of the federal battery rebate, so anything eligible for that discount can take part.
What is the difference between this and a feed-in tariff?
A feed-in tariff pays a flat rate for anything you export, whenever you export it, and those rates have fallen a long way. A VPP pays for capacity released when the grid genuinely needs it, which is worth considerably more.
Can I leave later?
Yes. Terms vary by program, including any notice period, and we go through them before you enrol.
