Mayfield West is a working yard ten minutes from Newcastle city, and it is the base for everything from Merewether around the lake to Toronto, west through Maitland and north into Port Stephens. Stock is held here and crews leave from here, so a callback is a short drive rather than a scheduling problem.

Ausgrid is the distributor across the whole area. Larger blocks and bigger roofs mean we quote more 10kW and 13kW systems here than almost anywhere else we work, and system size is exactly where sizing to actual consumption rather than to a round number pays off.

Two very different housing stocks sit inside this one region. Maitland and its surrounds, where Rutherford, Thornton, Aberglasslyn, East Maitland and Ashtonfield make up our densest cluster of installs anywhere in the Hunter, are largely newer estate housing on flat blocks. Newcastle proper and the older lake suburbs carry a lot of stock that predates anyone thinking about roof loads or switchboard capacity, which is why the site assessment matters more here than in a new subdivision.
