Sungrow SBR and SBH home batteries
Modular high-voltage batteries from one of the world's largest inverter manufacturers. Installed across NSW, QLD, the ACT and SA, with the federal battery rebate applied on your quote.
Sungrow SBR and SBH
Both are modular, high-voltage lithium iron phosphate stacks that pair with a Sungrow hybrid inverter. The SBR uses 3.2 kWh modules and suits small to mid-sized homes. The newer SBH uses 5 kWh modules and is sold in Australia from 20 kWh upward.

- Lithium iron phosphate prismatic cells
- Pairs with Sungrow SH series hybrid inverters, single or three phase
- Up to four SBR stacks in parallel with a combiner box
- Monitored through Sungrow’s iSolarCloud app
SBR or SBH?
Same idea, different module size.
-
SBR: smaller steps
Two to eight 3.2 kWh modules, from 6.4 kWh to 25.6 kWh, at up to 30 A continuous. A sensible range for a typical evening load.
-
SBH: bigger stacks
Four to eight 5 kWh modules, from 20 kWh to 40 kWh, at up to 50 A continuous. The 10 and 15 kWh versions are not sold in Australia.
-
Heated or standard SBH
The standard SBH charges from 0°C. The heated version charges down to −20°C, which matters west of the ranges and through a Canberra winter.
-
Floor standing
Both stacks stand on a floor base and are 330 to 350 mm deep, so we plan the location around that.
Good to know before you buy
The practical details that shape how a Sungrow system is designed for your home.
-
Monitoring and warranty
Sungrow’s ten year warranty, with 70% of capacity at year ten, requires the battery to stay monitored in iSolarCloud. If the data is incomplete, Sungrow will honour at least four years, so a reliable internet connection matters.
-
Coastal sites
Sungrow’s SBH manual says not to install it within 500 metres of the coastline or anywhere prone to sea winds. We check your location before quoting.
-
Inverter
SBR and SBH pair with Sungrow hybrid inverters. If your existing inverter is another brand, it would be replaced as part of the job.
-
Floor space and weight
Every stack stands on the floor, and a full SBH400 weighs 376 kg or more. Allow for a level, solid base.
-
Adding modules later
New modules must follow Sungrow’s extension guide, and the existing stack has to be brought to a matching charge level first, so it pays to size the system right on day one.

What the federal rebate is worth on a Sungrow battery
The Cheaper Home Batteries discount is calculated on usable capacity and comes straight off our quote. These figures use the May to December 2026 rate of 6.8 certificates per kWh, at a certificate value of $37 to $40. Your quote shows the exact amount for your installation date.
SBR128, 12.8 kWh usable
87 certificates, roughly $3,200 to $3,500 off. The whole battery sits inside the first 14 kWh band, which attracts the full rate.
SBH200, 20 kWh usable
119 certificates, roughly $4,400 to $4,800 off. Capacity above 14 kWh earns 60% of the rate.
From 1 January 2027
The rate drops to 5.7 certificates per kWh, about 16% less. It is set by your installation date, not your order date. How the federal battery rebate works.

Sungrow batteries with Clean Power Australia
We install Sungrow SBR and SBH batteries with Sungrow hybrid inverters across NSW, QLD, the ACT and South Australia, using our own SAA accredited installers, and apply the federal rebate on the quote.
Before we quote, we check your distance from the coast, your existing inverter, your internet connection and where the stack would sit, so the system we recommend suits your home.
Sungrow battery questions
Is Sungrow a good battery?
Yes, for the right home. Sungrow is one of the world’s largest inverter manufacturers, its batteries use lithium iron phosphate cells, and it is well established in Australia. The things to check are practical: the warranty depends on monitoring, the SBH should not go near the coast, and both stacks are floor standing.
What is the difference between the Sungrow SBR and SBH?
Module size. The SBR uses 3.2 kWh modules for systems from 6.4 to 25.6 kWh. The SBH uses 5 kWh modules for systems from 20 to 40 kWh, and comes in a heated version for cold climates.
What warranty does a Sungrow battery have?
Ten years from installation, with at least 70% of capacity at year ten and unlimited cycles for self-consumption and backup. The battery has to stay monitored in iSolarCloud, otherwise Sungrow will honour at least four years.
Can I install a Sungrow battery near the beach?
The SBH manual says not within 500 metres of the coastline or anywhere prone to sea winds. If you live close to the water, talk to us and we will check what suits your site.
Is a Sungrow battery eligible for the federal rebate?
SBR and SBH models on the Clean Energy Council approved battery list qualify when installed by an SAA accredited installer. We confirm the exact model on your quote and handle the paperwork.
Can I add a Sungrow battery to my existing solar?
If you already have a compatible Sungrow hybrid inverter, often yes. If not, the inverter is usually replaced as part of the job. We check your system first.
Sungrow or Sigenergy?
Sungrow if you already have a Sungrow hybrid inverter and want to keep it. Sigenergy if you want wall mounting, 0 ms whole-home backup and the option of EV charging from the same stack. Sigenergy SigenStor.
Sungrow or Hinen?
Both are high-voltage LFP batteries. Hinen is slimmer at 179.5 mm, rated IP65, and warranted for twelve years. Hinen B14400.
