The Central Coast is run out of Mayfield West, an hour up the M1, and it is one of the busiest regions we cover. Umina Beach, Woy Woy, Killarney Vale, Blue Haven and Narara account for the largest share of it.

Ausgrid is the distributor from the peninsula all the way up to Budgewoi. The two ends of the coast are different jobs, though. The peninsula around Woy Woy, Umina and Ettalong is older fibro and tile stock on small blocks, where a switchboard upgrade is common and roof space is the binding constraint. The northern estates through Woongarrah, Blue Haven and Hamlyn Terrace are newer builds with tighter roof planes and less usable north face than their size suggests.

Salt is the other Central Coast specific. Within a kilometre or so of the water, rail, fixings and enclosure ratings matter in a way they do not inland, and specifying for it is cheaper than replacing corroded mounting in year six. The commuter profile matters too: a large share of Central Coast households work in Sydney, so weekday daytime consumption is low and generation is mostly exported. That is the case for storage rather than simply a larger array.
